Role Details

We have an exciting opportunity for a College Chaplain position to join St Columba College. The College Chaplain will strengthen our ecumenical Chaplaincy Team an provide dedicated spiritual leadership and pastoral care for our students and families.

Your Responsibilities: 

This position is available 0.2 FTE up to Full-Time, depending on the skills and availability of the successful candidate. The role involves:

  • Work in partnership with Chaplaincy Team to lead Catholic liturgies, prayer, and faith-based events.
  • Provide spiritual and pastoral support for individual students as appropriate.
  • Providing pastoral care and guidance grounded in Catholic values.
  • Liaising with local parishes.
  • Collaborating with Chaplaincy team and Religious Education staff.
  • Contributing to the spiritual life of the whole College in an ecumenical spirit.

About You: 

  • Ordained Catholic priest, with a desire to minister in an educational setting; or
  • Currently in formation for Catholic priesthood or with relevant ministry or youth ministry experience,
  • A practicing Catholic with sound theological and liturgical knowledge,
  • Strong pastoral skills and experience working with young people.
  • Endorsement or letter of suitability from a parish priest, diocesan bishop, or Catholic authority.
  • Willingness to work within an ecumenical framework and school setting.
  • High level interpersonal skills to interact positively with the school community and be a positive role model and professional representative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to actively and positively uphold and contribute to the culture and ethos of the College.

Genuine Occupational Requirement:

  • In accordance with Section 56 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA), being a practicing Catholic is a genuine requirement for this role due to its religious and pastoral responsibilities.

The successful candidates will be required to undergo our screening process, which includes a Working with Children Check, E-Screen, Applicant Declaration Form and RHAN.
