Role Details

An exciting opportunity exists to join St Joseph’s Catholic School, Payneham in the role of Business Manager. The Business Manager supports the Principal in managing all areas of finance, risk management, property and facility management and development. The Business Manager has the responsibility for ensuring that the financial services of the school are conducted efficiently and ethically in accordance with established standards and such that all statutory and compliance obligations are met.

The Business Manager works closely with all members of the School Leadership team to continuously develop and improve strategic, financial and operational practices of the school.

The broad and strategic nature of this position means that other projects and tasks will from time to time fall into the responsibility of this role, and the Business Manager must be able to manage both his/hers and others' time and resources to meet deadlines and negotiate favourable outcomes in the best interests of the school.

The Business Manager will:

  • Support the Catholic ethos of St Joseph’s, Payneham.
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to ensuring high levels of confidentiality at all times.
  • Have the ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents/caregivers and the broader school community.
  • Have excellent organisational skills and flexibility with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Meet deadlines and be accountable for own and service outcomes within scope of the position.
  • Be able to work both independently and within a team environment and be supportive of others in the immediate work domain.
  • Have a strong commitment to detail and the ability to follow up to ensure all matters are resolved or dealt with effectively and efficiently.
  • Be flexible with time management.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Business, Commerce or other relevant business management discipline / experience.
  • Demonstrated high level experience using finance/payroll software programs.
  • To undertake approved Mandatory Notification training and attain and maintain a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • To undertake current First Aid in an education and care setting (HLTAID012) certificate.
