Role Details

Blackfriars Priory School is seeking a highly capable and experienced Finance Manager to lead our skilled school finance team and contribute to its ongoing success and strategic direction.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Director of Business and working closely with the Principal and Executive Team, the Finance Manager plays a key leadership role in the management of all finance-related functions within the School.

You will be responsible for financial reporting, budget development and oversight, statutory compliance, strategic financial planning, and leading the Finance Office team. The role requires a professional with strong technical capability, outstanding attention to detail, and a commitment to service and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts and cash flow reports
  • Managing accounts payable, payroll, school fees, and trading operations
  • Leading the annual budget and long-term financial planning processes
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, tax, and audit requirements
  • Coordinating funding applications and financial reporting to CESA and government bodies
  • Overseeing the preparation of year-end audits and FBT returns
  • Maintaining the integrity of the School’s financial records and systems

Additional Information

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Business (essential)
  • Experience leading a finance team and managing complex finance operations (essential)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • High-level proficiency in financial software (experience with Synergetic and SEQTA advantageous)
  • Knowledge of Catholic education systems and compliance frameworks (desirable)
  • CPA/CA membership or progress toward it (desirable)

This is a full-time, permanent position offering 37.5 hours per week over 48 weeks per year.
