Role Details

Due to extraordinary growth, Xavier College is seeking dedicated Education Support Officers (Curriculum) at each of our three campuses — Evanston (R–6), Gawler Belt (7–12), and Two Wells (R–10) — with appointments commencing in January 2026. ESO’s will nurture students’ academic, social and personal growth, actively contribute to our community and uphold the Salesian ethos and mission of the College.

This permanent, part-time role is Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 3:00pm (Two Wells and Gawler Belt) with a 3.15pm finish at Evanston. Working across a 40-week school year, offering a rewarding opportunity to work closely with teaching staff in supporting students’ diverse educational needs.

As ESO – Curriculum and under direct supervision of a teacher, you will:

  • Assist students individually and in groups using prepared and structured programs, contributing to their overall learning experience
  • Create engaging learning materials, provide direct student support, and contribute to College activities with student involvement
  • Assist with communication between students and teachers, particularly the interpretation of instruction
  • Participate in discussion to develop strategies and programs for students with additional needs 
  • Attend review meetings for student personal learning plans
  • Assist teachers with classroom photocopying, facilitation of consent forms, set up and tidy up activities and basic first aid
  • Assist teachers with the care of students during excursions, sports activities, school events and yard assist, as required
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and the College community
  • Assist students with additional needs, including personal care, if required

What you need to be successful

  • Possess or work towards Certificate III in Education Support (or equivalent) and/or relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience in a comparable role
  • Confidence and proficiency to assist students across literacy, numeracy and other various subjects
  • Be a strong communicator, both written and verbal, and a proven ability to quickly develop strong working relationships with students, teachers, leaders and the wider College community
  • Be reliable, fully available for the advertised hours of work and ultimately a ‘team player’ with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • You will be approachable and proactive, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all members of the College community
