Role Details

An exciting opportunity is now available for a Work Health and Safety Coordinator to join our expanding, multi-campus College in a permanent, full-time position working collaboratively with and under the direction of the Work Health and Safety Team Leader.

As a Work Health and Safety Coordinator, you’ll be at the forefront of promoting and maintaining a safe learning environment for our students, staff and visitors. We’re seeking a proactive and knowledgeable individual who is passionate about health and safety to join our team and contribute to our mission of nurturing a community where everyone can thrive.

This is a busy and varied role that requires in-depth knowledge and experience in similar or comparable safety position. The successful applicant will be based at the Gawler Belt campus with an expectation to travel between the three campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of WHS policies and procedures across the College
  • Provide recommendations and guidance on WHS matters
  • Appropriately investigate injuries, incidents, risks, hazards or near misses and ensure preventative procedures are in place
  • Conduct and review risk assessments and implement effective control measures, providing timely advice to staff
  • Assist in the training of new staff on the College’s safety procedures and expectations
  • Perform Routine workplace audits and inspections to monitor the effectiveness of safety measures
  • Provide WHS Inductions to staff, contractors and visitors
  • Monitor and ensure all WHS related incidents are appropriately recorded and tracked

About you

This role requires someone with an understanding and genuine enthusiasm for workplace safety. You must be able to work both collaboratively and autonomously, with a proactive results-driven approach. We are interested in hearing from candidates who are detail-oriented, exceptionally organised and who thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment.

What you need to be successful

  • Diploma studies comprising one year of study in Work, Health & Safety (or equivalent) and/or relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience in a comparable role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS and RTW legislation and policies to ensure compliance within the school is achieved at all times
  • Excellent proficiency of MS Word, Excel and database competency
  • Willingness to positively participate in required training, as required
  • Will work in a positive and collaborative capacity across all campuses of the College
  • Respond to emergency situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality
  • Have a current full SA drivers license
