Schools prepare to share the love for Catholic Education Week

Catholic Education Week will be celebrated in South Australia from May 13-19 2024 (Week 3, Term 2).

Following on from the success of the ‘#LoveMyCatholicSchool’ activity last year, schools are once again being invited to celebrate the excellent teaching and learning that takes place in Catholic schools every day. This is an opportunity for families, students and staff to reflect on what makes our schools so special.

Schools will be encouraging their communities – parents, students, staff and alumni – to interact online by commenting and posting about what they love about their school using the hashtag #LoveMyCatholicSchool.

We look forward to seeing and sharing all the different things communities love about their school. If you’re not already following @CatholicEducationSA on Facebook, join the page so you don’t miss out on the images, videos and messages next week.

Across the state schools will also be holding events to celebrate the things they love about their school in their own unique ways. Speak to your school directly to find out if a special event has been planned.

Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Port Pirie are uniting in a common theme for 2024: Let Your Light Shine. During Catholic Education Week, the schools will engage in prayer and social justice actions to build on the theme, including practical actions to uphold the dignity of all, especially those in need.

The annual Catholic Education Awards will be held on Thursday May 16 to coincide with Catholic Education Week (nominations are now closed).

The Awards, now in their third year, celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions to Catholic education by staff and volunteers throughout South Australian Catholic schools and Catholic Education Offices within the Archdiocese of Adelaide and the Diocese of Port Pirie.

The award categories are:

Religious Education Teacher
Early Career Teacher (<five years)
Experienced Teacher (>six years)
Leadership/Lifelong Contribution
Laudato Si
Innovative Program
Education Support
Volunteer Supporter

Details of all award winners will be posted here and on the Catholic Education Awards website on Friday May 17.
