500 Years of Service

Josephite Sisters, family members, friends and clergy gathered to celebrate the Jubilee of Profession of nine Jospehite sisters on Saturday 11 April.

Over 400 people celebrated with the Sisters of St Joseph to mark special jubilees of profession. A joyous concelebrated Mass was led by Fr Philip Marshall at St Ignatius Church Norwood. During the Liturgy the Jubilarians renewed their vows. The Liturgy was followed by refreshments in the Sister Margaret Lamb Gymnasium and Multi-Function Centre, Mary MacKillop College, where students and staff ensured that everyone was served with delicious refreshments.

The Jubiliarians included:

Diamond – 60 years Anniversary: Sr Mary Reardon and Sr Geraldine Stringer;

Golden – 50 years Anniversary: Sr Catherine Clark, Sr Margaret Cresp, Sr Moreen Featherstone, Sr Margaret Goodfellow and Sr Mary McNamara;

Silver - 25 years Anniversary: Sr Julianne Murphy.

The significant contribution of these sisters combined, in a range of ministries: education including school  principalship, pastoral, leadership, formation and parish service, adds up to nearly 500 years!

Until recent times, Sr Catherine Clarke, golden jubilarian, served on the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools (SACCS) for over 20 years; for 15 of these years she was  the chairperson. SACCS is the governing body for Catholic schools in South Australia.

Catholic Education SA warmly congratulates and thanks each of the Jubilarians for their vast and generous ongoing contributions to the wellbeing of people and the service of God  through their respective ministries.

I choose to give myself completely to God and to commit myself wholeheartedly to this religious community. I pledge myself to express this commitment in joyful, loving service of God and the church. Amen   (extract from the Renewal of Vows)
