Choir Trainers in Good Voice

Friday 13th Feb was the first Choir Trainers Day for the 2015 Catholic Schools Music Festival (CSMF).

Gennaro Mannella, Chairperson of the Festival, welcomed choir trainers, old and new as well as new CSMF Coordinator, Sam Taylor to the team.

Bill Pecker on behalf of Catholic Education welcomed all to the site.

Denise Rothall, Director of the Festival, paced the day by introducing songs for the 2015 Festival, interspersed with an audio and original footage video compilation of circa 1910 – 1940 performances of the chosen repertoire.

It is 100 years since Gallipoli and 70 years since WWII ended. The festival is dedicated to the music from that golden era.

Just prior to morning tea, Denise and Gennaro presented wax- sealed certificates to Jan Hansard, a long-serving choir trainer and Vicki McGregor, previous Festival Consultant. Jan has now retired from teaching, however is enormously keen to continue with the Festival; learn the repertoire and act as a relief trainer. It is now an honour to have Vicki on the ‘other side’ as a 2015 Choir Trainer herself.

A fabulous day was had by all, with lots of new music to learn and teach to 2000 students!

The 2015 Catholic Schools Music Festival will be held in the Festival Theatre, Adelaide from 21-24 September.
