2015 Arch D Inaugural Awards Night

It was with great excitement that the Arch D Radio Awards Night was held at the DeBourg Auditorium at Sacred Heart College, Somerton Park, on Friday, 6 February. Special guests of honour included Archbishop Philip Wilson, Michael Chant (CEO - Life FM), Bruno Vieceli (Assistant Director - CESA) and Candice Mitchell (Captain - Adelaide Adrenaline Ice Hockey Team). Local band-on-the-rise "All Year Round" ( formerly Mt Carmel College students) provided entertainment. 70 young people and their families, dressed up for this red-carpet event.

The awards were to celebrate and recognise the amazing contribution of school students in Catholic schools to the Arch D Radio program, which airs every Wednesday and Saturday night on Life FM 107.9.

Arch D Radio presents news, interviews and music aimed at listeners aged 15-25, focusing on young Catholics in the Archdiocese of Adelaide. Over 75 students from 6 schools were a part of Arch D shows in 2014, either as on-air announcers, music programmers, sports reporters, music journalists, or in sound production.

Awards
On the night, trophies in 10 categories were awarded. The winners of the two major awards were:

Broadcaster of the Year - Georgia Cooper (Year 12 St Mary's College, Adelaide)
Georgia made an enormous contribution over the year in many areas, including on-air announcing, sports reporting and music programming. She showed great natural ability and instincts for radio, always went "the extra mile", and made a huge positive impact to any show.

"In The Spirit" Award - Holly Roberts (Old Scholar, Cardijn College, Noarlunga)
Holly displayed excellence in discussing the Catholic faith and tradition in an honest, contemporary and engaging way for young people. She showed not only a strong personal connection with her faith, but eloquence in being able to discuss it on-air in a way that was both relatable and inspiring.

Female Announcer of the Year
Cailin Alexander, St Francis de Sales College, Mount Barker

Male Announcer of the Year
James McCaffery, Sacred Heart College, Cumberland Park.

"Rising Star" Award
Tom Basso, Rostrevor College, Woodforde.

Technical Production Award
Laara Clark, Old Scholar, Sacred Heart College, Somerton Park.

 Music Programmer of the Year (Two Awards Given)
 Leigh Symonds, Old Scholar, Cabra Dominican College, Cumberland Park.
Tahlia Reid Edwards, St Francis de Sales College, Mount Barker.

Sports Reporter of the Year
Georgia Cooper, St Mary’s College, Adelaide

Best On-Air Team of the Year
Amalia Krueger/ Victoria Saris, Cabra Dominican College, Cumberland Park.

Music Reporter of the Year
Bethan Maddison, Sacred Heart College, Somerton Park.
