Thanks and Farewell: Dr Paul Sharkey

At celebrations today over 300 people thanked and farewelled Dr Paul Sharkey as he leaves his role as Director of Catholic Education SA to move to Melbourne where he will be the of Director of Catholic Identity and Educational Services at the Catholic Education Office.

Students, teachers, staff, school leaders, clergy and Commission members past and present along with educational sector representatives from  AISSA and Catholic Education Commission Queensland gathered at the Queen of Angels Church for Mass at which Archbishop Philip Wilson presided.  The liturgy celebrated diversity as the community came together. During the Mass Paul was gifted with a book comprising of a page from each school, a candle representing faith, hope and love and a Papal Blessing recognising Paul’s service to Catholic Education and the Church in South Australia.

After Mass the group crossed the road to the Catholic Education Office where they gathered under a marque for light refreshments. Fr Philip Marshall passed a vote of thanks to Paul recognising his strong Catholic educational leadership and Paul responded, thanking everyone for their support.
