CESA Reimagining: Invent to learn with Dr Gary Stager

Attendees at Invent to learn were provoked to affirm and inspire the competent child as a citizen with values and 100 languages. This is an extension to the CESA Reimagining 0-18 with Professor Carla Rinaldi.

Professor Rinaldi asked us to listen to children in developing relationship and interdependency in their learning. It was a commitment to purposely return the 'joy of learning' for children to fulfil their potential and experience the possibilities within the learning.

To extend these opportunities, Dr Gary Stager facilitated two full day workshops Invent to learn. Participants were offered some ‘hard fun’ as they expanded their learning by making and advancing ideas in using technology. Gary Stager is an internationally known champion of authentic student-centered use of digital technologies. The rationale is that all children are competent, and Gary reinforced this with several engaging videos featuring young creators and entrepreneurs.

The competent child marries well with digital technologies - most commonly we start with accepting that the student is a natural researcher whose reality of the now is immersed in applying technology, mobile devices, social media in their everyday life.

Workshop participants were actively engaged in their own learning experience.
