A visit from Marist missionary, Sister Teresia increased the commitment of Our Lady of the Visitation students as they learned about the needs of children living in ghettos in Jamaica and how they and their families are being assisted through programs such as childcare, kindergartens and skills training for young people to gain employment.
Sr Teresia who has worked in the Pacific and America as well as Australasia is currently touring schools and communities to share the stories of how children in disadvantaged situations live.
Adelaide diocese Catholic Mission Director Deacon Anthony Hill said the generosity of our school communities is proof of the love that children especially hold for Jesus’ work.
“Educating children to share the gospel and assist in the life-changing work of the Catholic Missions emphasises that the Church is very much a universal body where even the smallest can help,” said Deacon Hill.
Catholic Schools Open Week is back for 2025 – and it’s your invitation to explore what makes Catholic education such a meaningful choice for your child.
