Faith to Lead - Lead to Faith

A delegation of South Australian leaders from the Catholic Education Office and Catholic schools joined the 1400 delegates at the National Catholic Education Conference in Perth this week. The conference, Faith to Lead, Lead to Faith, brought together leaders from all quarters of Australia and beyond in order that they might reflect on the contribution of Catholic schools and sectors to the young people of Australia. It was a wonderful event and one in which leaders from Catholic Education South Australia presented some of the programs and initiatives that constitute our work:
• Transformative Learning through Made in the Image of God, Human Sexuality Program
(Teresa Hudson)
• Is God Online? (Jacinta Astachnowicz)
• Trauma Sensitive Schools (Mary Carmody)
• Yarning Up! ?The contribution of Aboriginal spiritualities/Christianities to Catholic Identity
(Roma Aloisi and Jonathon Lindsay-Tjapaltarri Hermawan)
• Evidence based appraisal - Building a culture of continuous improvement with school leaders
(Susan Young, PCs and Principals)
• Nazareth Catholic Community: 10 Years on. Making the community hum
(Michael Dahl and Jan Bate).

As well, other local SA colleagues made presentations:
• Pope Francis: Laudato Si: A new moment for Catholic education
(Mons Denis Edwards)
• First Connections: The enrolment journey in Australian Catholic primary schools
(Ann Bliss and Carmel Nash).
There were many complimentary comments offered about all of the presentations including Director of Catholic Education SA Helen O’Brien who said “Delegates from South Australia were feeling ‘pretty proud’ of our work home here in South Australia”.
