Xavier College

Xavier College is a Catholic Diocesan co-educational school, currently educating students from Years 7–12 in the tradition of the Salesian Order. This involves a unique ethos and rich tradition in the education of young people and a distinctive approach to wellbeing, learning and teaching. Xavier College is located north of Adelaide, just outside the regional town of Gawler, the gateway to the Barossa Valley. In 2021 Xavier College will open an R-6 Campus at Two Wells, a small township 25km from Gawler and 40 km north of the Adelaide City Centre. This Campus will eventually expand to an R-12 Campus on its 30-acre site and service a growing population, with new housing developments in the Two Wells, Virginia, Angle Vale and Mallala townships.

Role Details

It is expected that the Principal, as a leader in faith and religious education, as a leader of learning, as a community leader and as one responsible for the smooth operation of the school's resources, will work with the leadership team, staff and students, parent groups, parish priest and parish personnel, to ensure excellent teaching and learning in a faith-centered environment.

The Principal will make a significant contribution through leading implementation of the following CESA Documents:

It is expected that the successful applicant will be/have:

  • a Catholic who is an active member of a Catholic Sunday Eucharistic community;
  • an understanding of the public commitment to Church leadership required of a school leader;
  • successful experience in senior leadership in Catholic education;
  • high level interpersonal skills, including communication and conflict resolution skills;
  • high level ability in the application of contemporary learning theory and its implications for teaching and learning in a primary and secondary setting;
  • proven administrative ability, including responsible financial management.
