Role Details

St Mary Magdalene’s School is looking to appoint various enthusiastic Education Support Officers.  With three positions available, each between 10 – 20 hours per week depending on availability across 40 school term weeks.  The successful candidates will join a dedicated team of co-educators and teachers, committed to working in partnership to provide individualised care alongside quality teaching and learning programs, to ensure students are given opportunities to thrive.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist student learning, including evaluation and assessment under the supervision of a teacher, of the learning needs of students by employing behavioural management strategies to ensure a safe, orderly and successful learning environment.
  • Carry out a wide variety of tasks associated with classroom learning experiences (e.g. assisting teachers in preparing, implementing and supervising classrooms and/or intervention programs).
  • Supervise and care for students with formally identified special needs including support for individual students or groups of students in accordance with Personalised Plans for Learning (PPL) as required.
  • Participate in the evaluation of programs and student involvement and document student progress/behaviour in SEQTA as directed.
  • Provide yard duty support to teachers in accordance with school procedures.

 

About You

We are looking for someone who can develop strong and positive relationships with students and who is passionate about shaping the learning experiences of every child.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a Certificate IV in Education / Education Support (or equivalent) and/or relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience in a comparable role. Prior experience working in an education environment is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability working and communicating effectively with children. Experience working with children with special needs is highly desirable
  • Ability to implement positive and supportive behaviour management practices and be a good role model for students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proven ability to develop a strong positive rapport with students, staff, and parents/caregivers and foster effective professional relationships.
  • High level organisational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to uphold and contribute to the culture and ethos of Catholic schools in general as well as that of St Mary Magdalene’s School.
  • An active commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.
  • Continence Care Training is desirable.

Catholic Education South Australia has announced the first of multiple new Early Learning Centres (ELCs) to be delivered through a major partnership with Accord and Eden Academy.

The first ELC, co-located at Xavier College Two Wells, which will be known as Eden Grove is expected to open in Term 3, 2026. The $4 million purpose-built centre will cater for 141 children, offering care and learning from six weeks to five years of age. An additional Eden Grove ELC will open at Xavier College Riverlea Park in 2027.
