Role Details

St Mary Magdalene’s School is looking for a warm, enthusiastic, and reliable Crèche / Playgroup Education Support Officer to join our team based in our Community Hub.

This is a permanent part-time position working 6 hours per week, 9 weeks per school term, with the possibility of some additional hours as required.

Hours are:

  • Tuesday 8:30am to 11:45pm
  • Thursday 12:00pm to 2:45pm

The Creche/Playgroup Education Support Office role is perfect for someone who is passionate about early childhood development and wants to be part of a team that supports not only children but their families too. As part of the school’s wider community initiatives, the Hub provides a welcoming space for local families, offering care, learning, and play in a safe and nurturing environment. Alongside the Hub Leader you will play a key role in creating fun, engaging activities for young children and helping to build strong, positive relationships with families from diverse backgrounds.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Supervising and engaging children aged birth to 4 years
  • Leading creative play, story time, and group activities in line with Supported Playgroups in Catholic Education guidelines
  • Supporting children's emotional, social, and physical development
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and stimulating environment
  • Communicating effectively with parents and carers
  • Attending professional development and community engagement sessions as required

 

About You

We are looking for someone who can develop strong and positive relationships with the Community Hub families and can create an engaging environment for the young children attending the sessions.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Demonstrate experience working with young children (formal or informal)
  • A kind, patient, and energetic personality
  • A great team player with a positive attitude!
  • Availability to attend professional development and community engagement sessions as required (these may be in addition to your regular working hours)

Catholic Education South Australia has announced the first of multiple new Early Learning Centres (ELCs) to be delivered through a major partnership with Accord and Eden Academy.

The first ELC, co-located at Xavier College Two Wells, which will be known as Eden Grove is expected to open in Term 3, 2026. The $4 million purpose-built centre will cater for 141 children, offering care and learning from six weeks to five years of age. An additional Eden Grove ELC will open at Xavier College Riverlea Park in 2027.
