Mercedes College is seeking an inspiring and experienced Assistant Principal, Teaching and Learning to join our Senior Leadership Team. This role is crucial for enhancing pedagogical practices, developing college-wide pedagogy, and ensuring alignment with our Catholic, Mercy, and internationally-focused mission. You'll be instrumental in fostering academic excellence and a cohesive teaching and learning framework across the College.
About the Role
As a key member of our leadership team, you will:
- Lead curriculum development: Oversee, monitor, and evaluate a comprehensive curriculum that supports the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs of all students, aligning with CIS and IB standards.
- Drive teaching excellence: Champion high-quality teaching, ensuring practices are aligned with our learning vision and supporting staff in implementing IB, Learner Profile, and differentiated instruction.
- Cultivate staff growth: Foster a professional and trusting environment, lead continuous professional development, and mentor curriculum leaders.
- Build partnerships: Strengthen home-school relationships and establish networks with external organisations to enrich student learning opportunities.
- Ensure Compliance: Uphold CIS, IB, and Education Act registration standards.
Please note: This is a fixed-term, full-time position starting from 21 July 2025 and concluding on 12 December 2025. The role is classified as POR 4 and includes a teaching load tailored to the applicant's areas of expertise. Applicants are asked to specify their teaching specialisations in their application.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Significant and impactful experience as an educator, preferably in a Catholic school.
- Post-graduate studies or engagement with leadership formation (e.g., Grad Cert, Masters, CESA Aspiring Leaders Program).
- Proven ability to lead teams and create positive workplace environments.
- Skills in leading data-informed processes (e.g., ACER PAT, NAPLAN) to improve student outcomes.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant national, local, and school requirements.
- Familiarity with school systems like SEQTA and Managebac.
- Demonstrated success in project management.
