Role Details

  • Actively support and contribute to the Catholic identity of the school and demonstrate a commitment to the vision of St Barbara's Parish School;
  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and utilise contemporary evidence based pedagogies including Visible Learning to promote engagement and success for learners;
  • Demonstrate skills and a sound knowledge of Primary/Middle Years evidence-based pedagogies including: Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI);
  • Demonstrate highly developed skills and knowledge in designing inclusive learning programs that meet the specific needs of all learners, including the integration of the Digital Technologies Curriculum and STEM;
  • Assess, record and report learner achievement;
  • Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively within a professional learning community and develop positive relationships within a Year Level team, with staff, students and families;
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the implementation of Restorative Practices to develop self-regulation and personal responsibility;
  • Establish structure and processes to achieve a productive learning environment and cater for the wellbeing of all students;
  • Employ behaviour management strategies which ensure a safe, orderly and successful learning environment;
  • Be a dynamic educator who is committed to ongoing professional learning;
  • Ensure that confidential information is handled appropriately;
  • Undertake other non-instructional responsibilities which are part of the teacher’s role. These include but are not limited to support and adhere to school and SACCS policies and relevant government legislation; carry out routine tasks including record keeping, surveys, distribution of materials; meet yard duty requirements; exercise a duty of care; and improve skills, knowledge and performance through professional development and performance appraisals;
  • Perform other duties as required from time to time by the Principal and that are supported within the Enterprise Agreement.

Qualifications and Training:

  • SA Teachers Registration;
  • Working with Children Check;
  • Approved Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care;
  • First Aid Certificate;
  • Be willing to undertake Teacher Accreditation in Catholic Education SA training, along with any other compulsory training necessary for the role.

Catholic Education South Australia has announced the first of multiple new Early Learning Centres (ELCs) to be delivered through a major partnership with Accord and Eden Academy.

The first ELC, co-located at Xavier College Two Wells, which will be known as Eden Grove is expected to open in Term 3, 2026. The $4 million purpose-built centre will cater for 141 children, offering care and learning from six weeks to five years of age. An additional Eden Grove ELC will open at Xavier College Riverlea Park in 2027.
