The Opportunity

St Joseph’s Parish School is seeking a Principal to guide the school, parish, and local regional community towards excellence. We are looking for a passionate individual with a strong faith background and leadership skills to foster growth and development in our students and staff. This opportunity has become avaliable as a result of the existing long-standing Principal being appointed to another School within our system.

St Joseph's is a co-educational Catholic school located in Gladstone - a small rural town in the Mid North of South Australia in the approach to the lower Flinders Rangers just 200km north of Adelaide. The school currently enrols close to 60 students from Reception to Year 6, offering an eriching and personalised curriculum. The team work collaborativley with colleauges in neighbouring Catholic Josephite schools.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead as a spiritual guide within the school, parish, and local community, nurturing a culture of inclusivity and faith-inspired values.
  • Drive continuous improvement in learning outcomes for all students through innovative strategies and effective leadership.
  • Facilitate the formation and professional growth of staff at all career stages, from early career to experienced professionals.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with the parish, school stakeholders, and the broader regional community.
  • Collaborate with regional Principal colleagues to contribute to system-wide and diocesan priorities.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of financial and capital resources, optimising their utilisation for the benefit of the school and community.

To successfully achieve the above, we are looking for someone who:

  • Demonstrates a strong faith background, embracing inclusivity and welcoming all members of the community.
  • Exhibits exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Possesses an understanding of the unique strengths and challenges of living and leading in a small, regional community.
  • Capable of managing diverse roles across various aspects of the school and local community, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.
  • Shows creativity and flexibility in responding to the needs of both local and external stakeholders, fostering productive partnerships.
