Role Details

We offer you an exciting opportunity to join the dedicated team at St Joseph’s School Tranmere!  We are looking to employ a PE teacher for 2 days per week covering maternity leave. We invite you to apply if you are passionate about sports education, self-motivated and possess strong organisational skills to work in an engaging and dynamic learning environment.

This position would also suit an existing part time teacher who is looking for an additional PE teaching position.

  • Annual salary $82,660 - $116,160 (dependent on experience) pro rata

Your Responsibilities

Our Physical Education teacher plays a vital role in ensuring that St Joseph’s School Tranmere provides and delivers an engaging and dynamic curriculum, which allows all students opportunities for success.

The PE teacher is responsible for the provision of the learning program and curriculum within this area; along with all other responsibilities such as working with our PE Administrator to organise Out of School Hours Sports, school Sports Academies, inter-school sports carnivals and school sports day.

You will:

  • Apply curriculum knowledge and teaching methods which facilitate successful learning
  • Respond to learner’s needs
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships
  • Provide a balanced and challenging program relevant to the needs of the students (including developing Individual Learning Plans, as appropriate)
  • Assess, record and report learner achievement using required programs and systems
  • Establish structures and processes to achieve a productive learning environment
  • Employ behaviour management strategies which ensure a safe, orderly and successful learning environment

About You

You will:              

  • Have a commitment to uphold and contribute to the Catholic ethos, values and policies of St Joseph’s Tranmere
  • Confidently develop and implement a high-quality Physical Education learning program for all learners, Reception to Year 6
  • Share a deep knowledge and understanding of contemporary, innovative and inclusive pedagogies to ensure all children have access to a high quality PE program that is focused on learner engagement
  • Demonstrate comprehensive administrative skills to organise Out of School Hours Sports and inter-school sports, carnivals and school sports day.
  • Demonstrate the use of rich assessment and reporting strategies to communicate student learning to staff and parents
  • Possess highly effective communication and interpersonal skills in developing positive and collaborative relationships with learners, colleagues, parents and the broader community
  • Employ behaviour management strategies which ensure a safe, orderly and successful learning environment
