Role Details

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Finance Officer to oversee and manage the financial operations of our school on a part-time basis. This key role provides strategic financial support to the Principal and ensures the effective management of the school’s budget, compliance, and reporting obligations.

This is a permanent, part-time 0.4FTE position. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

  • Prepare and monitor the school’s annual budget in collaboration with the Principal

  • Ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory financial policies and procedures

  • Maintain accurate financial records and prepare reports for school leadership, the Board, and external stakeholders as required

  • Oversee payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliation processes

  • Support funding applications, grant reporting, and audits

  • Identify areas for financial efficiency and provide strategic financial advice

  • Liaise with auditors, government bodies, and external service providers as needed

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Relevant professional experience in a finance role

  • Sound knowledge of financial management systems and budgeting processes

  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with school leadership

  • A high level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality
