Role Details

Mount Carmel College is excited to invite applications from suitably qualified teachers for the permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) position of English as a Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) Teacher, commencing during Term 2, 2025 or at an agreed date.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Plan and implement engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the Australian Curriculum: English and the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progression.
  • Use evidence-based EALD strategies to develop students' reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
  • Integrate cultural and linguistic diversity into lessons to create an inclusive and meaningful learning experience.
  • Assess and track student progress using diagnostic and formative assessments to identify students' language learning needs.
  • Conduct diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments aligned with the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progression.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents and caregivers to support students' learning at home 
  • Design and implement personalised learning plans for students requiring intensive English support.
  • Differentiate instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs, including newly arrived students.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and leaning enrichment to establish differentiated practice for language learners.
  • Foster an Inclusive and Supportive Learning Environment where students feel comfortable developing their language skills.

Mount Carmel College is a Catholic co-educational college in the Josephite tradition.  The school is located at Rosewater in the western suburbs of Adelaide and has 3 campuses – Primary, Secondary and the ‘state of art’ Western Technical College, with a total enrolment of 1,200 students from R-12.
