Role Details

This role will involve supporting individual students and/or small groups of students in Reception to Year 6 with a range of needs within the school, under the direction of the teacher or the leadership team.

Ideally the candidate will have a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Education Support (or equivalent) with an passion to support children’s learning.  Applicants undertaking a tertiary studies are also encouraged to apply.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.30am-3.30pm for 41 weeks during school terms and 1 week prior to start of term 1.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Approved Responding to Risks of Harm Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) certificate
  • First Aid Certificate – HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting
  • Current acceptable Department of Human Services (DHS) Working With Children Check (WWCC)

Fast forward to November 2024 and Catholic Education SA (CESA) is delighted to announce its 100th certified HALT teacher; Penny Bateman, from Xavier College, Gawler Belt campus. Penny, who holds the position of English Curriculum Leader, began her teaching career in 2021 and started her HALT certification this year. Receiving HALT certification means that Penny will now be able to mentor colleagues in the process and provide expert guidance on evidence-based teaching practices while fostering professional growth within her department.
