Catholic Education SA has announced that all Catholic schools in SA will provide fee remissions to families financially impacted by COVID-19.
For Catholic schools governed by the Archdiocese of Adelaide and the Diocese of Pt Pirie, families who have lost significant income due to COVID-19 will receive a total school fee remission effective immediately, initially for a period of 3 months.
“In many South Australian regional and rural communities, the COVID-19 pandemic comes amidst a range of other challenges - bushfires, drought, loss of key industries and employment,” says Dr Neil McGoran, Director, Catholic Education SA.
“Amongst all the worries that we have at this time – worrying about the payment of school fees should not be one of them.”
“We understand that every family’s situation is unique. If a parent thinks they cannot afford to continue to pay their child’s fees, they should discuss this directly with their school principal.
“We have invited families affected in any way to discuss this with the school. The school is there to support families.”
Every Catholic School in SA is offering fee remission to some extent.
The 86 Catholic schools governed by the Archdiocese of Adelaide and the Diocese of Pt Pirie are offering a total school fee remission - effective immediately, initially for a period of 3 months – to any family that has lost significant income due to COVID-19.
“Fees vary from school to school. With the average annual fee across Diocesan primary, secondary and R-12 schools at about $4000 – the saving for three months would be $1000.
“Our students matter to us. Every parent can know that we are here to help support them in this challenging time.
“We are preparing for remote learning from Term 2 where lessons will be provided online and pastoral care will be provided in different ways.”

Parents who need to access the fee remission should contact their child’s school for more information.
