Info sessions: Teaching in the Middle Years

Catholic Education SA is moving Year 7 from primary to secondary settings in most Catholic schools in 2019. This exciting initiative is creating new employment opportunities in Catholic secondary schools.

A number of information sessions are planned for staff interested in exploring secondary career options.

The sessions will cover a range of topics including:

  • Teaching and learning in the secondary context
  • Career opportunities
  • Core teacher model
  • Curriculum content
  • Pedagogical practices
  • Approach to relationships
  • Expectations of personal skill and qualification requirements
  • Approach to professional development

“All permanent staff in Diocesan schools, particularly those in primary schools seeking to transition to a secondary school, are encouraged to attend one of these sessions,” explains Kerry Cox, Senior HR Adviser, Catholic Education South Australia.

“A number of permanent positions are already being advertised for 2019 commencement.”

The information sessions are part of Catholic Education South Australia’s Priority Recruitment Program. Each session will be facilitated by principals with input from CESA’s HR team and staff familiar with teaching in primary and secondary contexts.  Each session will include a short tour of the College if time permits.
