Helen OBrien, Director of Catholic Education SA

Catholic Education SA is pleased to announce that Helen O’Brien has been appointed to the substantive position of Director of Catholic Education SA and as a Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Adelaide.

Fr Philip Marshall, Vicar General, in announcing this significant appointment said:

“It is with great pleasure I announce that Helen O’Brien has been appointed to the position of Director of Catholic Education SA and Chancellor in the Archdiocese of Adelaide.

Many of you know Helen in her current role as Acting Director of Catholic Education SA and through her substantive appointment as Deputy Director.

Helen brings with her a great depth and breadth of wisdom and knowledge of Catholic education both in South Australia and nationally as a result of her long commitment at a senior level to our sector.  She also represents Catholic education on a number of committees and boards both Government and intersectorial,” he said.

Father Philip Marshall added that Catholic Education in South Australia and the Archdiocese of Adelaide are currently facing both some challenging and very exciting times.  The launch of the CESA Strategy for Leading Catholic Education to New Levels of Excellence brings many opportunities for our schools and said that he was confident that Helen can strongly lead the Catholic Education SA community at this time.

Staff at the Catholic Education Office joined Fr Phillip Marshall, along with Professor Denis Ralph, Chair of the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools, in offering Helen congratulations and best wishes for this important role in Catholic education.
