Each child is important, however some children need additional support at school and the Catholic Schools, supported by the CEO offer support in many areas and in many ways.

Support is offered for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families, families who have recently moved to Australia, families who are newly arrived in Australia and those families whose children need some extra assistance with their learning...

Catholic Education South Australia's Aboriginal Education Team creates partnerships with school, families and communities to deliver a range of support and education services. Our team assists to build cultural capacity, helping school communities to deepen their knowledge and understanding of their own cultural identities, histories and cultures. All Catholic schools have focus teachers who advocates for the Aboriginal students and families and are supported to become agents of change. The team also works with Principals, school leaders, staff, students and their families to ensure our schools achieve the best outcomes for their students.

We assist with student support, through the provision of funding as well as the development of Personalised Plans for Learning, Cultural Learning Plan and the implementation.  We provide professional learning in Aboriginal Education to build the capacity and knowledge of leaders and staff and students to ensure the Aboriginal perspectives are embedded throughout the R-12 Curriculum.

We coordinate events such as:

  • ‘Thriving People’ events for First Nations students from years Reception to year 10 and their teachers throughout the year. These events provide a significant opportunity for First Nations/ Aboriginal students to build relationships, celebrate together and learn about their cultures and identities. Graduation Event for Year 12 Aboriginal students who have completed their secondary education.
  • Artists in Residence Program
  • Professional Learning opportunities for Aboriginal Education Focus Teachers

The team is in regular contact with school leadership, teachers, parents/carers and senior secondary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

We know how important it is to support students from overseas to study in our schools, along with meeting the needs of students enrolled in our schools who have English as an additional language.

Catholic Education welcomes international students to South Australia.

The following is a list of CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) registered schools that offer international student programs. These schools are all located in metropolitan Adelaide, except for Tenison Woods College in country South Australia.

Please contact your school of interest via the links below for specific information relating to courses, enrolment, fees and accommodation.

Learners of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) are children and young people whose main home language is a language or dialect other than Standard Australian English (SAE).

In our schools they are simultaneously learning a new language and learning the knowledge, understandings and skills of the curriculum through this new language.  EALD learners have the same capacity to learn and understand the curriculum as other learners, however they require informed support with the English language and cultural understandings required to successfully access the curriculum and to demonstrate their achievement.

Effective partnerships between schools, families and CEO personnel involve a shared responsibility for student learning and wellbeing within the whole school community.

Catholic Education SA is committed to the inclusion of all students.

A choice of schooling options available include:

  • Mainstream schools offering inclusive education programs
