Catholic schools across South Australia offer a mid-year Reception enrolment intake for students who turn five on or before October 31.
There is a large body of research that shows the benefit of high quality early learning and care experiences for children in their first 1,000 days of life, and in the years prior to school.
Students who start in Term 3 are likely to spend 18 months in Reception before progressing to Year 1.
This initiative of the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools (SACCS) aims to reduce the financial burden on families.
All Diocesan schools will offer the 2023 Term 3 Reception intake to parents and carers free of charge. The free intake includes tuition fees and compulsory charges. It excludes uniforms and extra-curricular costs.
“This decision is part of our continued response as we seek to support families at a time when they are being financially impacted by the effects of rising living costs and inflation,” says Dr Neil McGoran, Director, Catholic Education South Australia.
Most Catholic schools offer two intakes per year for children starting Reception.
Term 1 enrolment - for children who turn five years on or before April 30.
Term 3 enrolment (Mid-Year intake) - for children who turn five years on or before October 31.
