Gleeson College student wins Triple J Unearthed High

If you’ve not yet heard of the band Teenage Joans – now you definitely will…

Gleeson College student Tahlia was taken by surprise at the end of a Year 12 Psychology Trial exam this week when Triply J breakfast hosts Sally and Erica zoomed in to announce that her and band-mate Cahli had won the Unearthed High competition for 2020.

Teenage Jones song ‘Three Leaf Clover’ had tough competition with over 1700 nationwide entries this year. Check out the moment that Tahlia and Cahli were told they’d won…

This is the 13th year that Triple J has run the Unearthed High competition to search for the nations best highschool act (and the second year in a row that the winning entry has been from South Australia). Tahlia and Cahli will now have the opportunity to record and produce their next big single with Triple J and they’ll get professional industry advice from senior music managers – as well as mentoring from one of their favourite artists.

Congratulations to the girls on this outstanding achievement and well done to the teachers and students at Gleeson College, Golden Grove who assisted in the surprise announcement set-up, filming and, of course, confetti canons.
