English for the Australian Curriculum

This unit closely examines a range of texts, to help students develop an understanding of how texts, including multimodal texts, are created using linguistic, visual, audio, gestural and spatial design systems to create meaning. The unit complements a historical inquiry around the experiences of the early settlers and contact with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

My Place by Nadia Wheatley and Donna Rawlins- Book study

My Place, the classic Australian picture book, is a ‘time machine’ which takes the reader back into the past. This resource from Reading Australia includes activities that will support students’ understanding of the impact that we have had on the natural environment and how this has affected how we live today. The text should be read in shared, modelled, and independent reading sessions.
