Australian Curriculum Lessons: Stimulating Reader Engagement Unit of Work for F-6

This series of lessons looks at engaging students in reading by choosing books of interest to share and discuss, aiming to grow reader engagement. 

The unit is broken into the following series of lessons, intended to be taught to boost student reading engagement and be revisited as regular sessions over time. 

  • Lesson One Student Interest  
  • Lesson Two Matching interest to fiction books  
  • Lesson Three Becoming the expert on their interest  
  • Lesson Four Exploring other interests  
  • Lesson Five Comparing their interest to most popular books
