Making your own gloop is easy and your child will be learning as they go. Ask your child to help you find the ingredients in the cupboard. They can measure out the cornflour, fill the measuring cup right to the top. That makes one cup. Now we need another cup of cornflour. That makes two cups of cornflour. Now we need 1 cup of water. Add the water to the ingredients and mix in a bowl.
Sensory awareness goes hand in hand with creativity. Sensory play arouses children’s imaginations, creativity and curiosity through exploration of texture, temperature and fun. Gloop is an interesting mixture with a unique texture and is great for sensory play. It is also great for learning about the concepts of what a solid and liquid is and comparing different textures before and after adding water.
While your child is making gloop, they will be learning about measurement, size, the sequence of the recipe, and the way ingredients change as we mix them together. Children will also be able to see how mixing different ingredients together changes their look and texture as they compare before and after adding water.
