Inquiry Question

How can we learn about cultures by listening to Aboriginal stories?

Learning Experience

Get comfy and listen to ABC Kids’ “Little Yarns”.  Hear Aboriginal languages and stories from across Australia.

Engage your child in conversation about these stories that promote consideration of diverse perspectives.

Why is this important?

Learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages supports the identity of Aboriginal children and enhances the knowledge of non-Aboriginal children as they learn about families’ and communities’ texts and stories. Tuning into listening without watching a screen is good for children’s listening and early literacy skills.
