Winner - Kathleen McPhee Music Scholarship

Congratulations to Reece Graetz, a graduate of St Francis de Sales College, on winning the 2016 Kathleen McPhee Music Scholarship.

The Kathleen McPhee Scholarship was established in memory of Kathleen McPhee who died in February 2001. Kathleen McPhee requested that a sum of money be set aside from her estates to enable a scholarship to be established to help students of music continue their studies at tertiary level.

The Kathleen McPhee Scholarship is awarded to a student from a South Australian Catholic secondary school who has studied classical, jazz or indigenous music at Year 12 level and intends to continue, or is continuing study of music at a tertiary institution.

“The scholarship, which is to the value of $1,000, is a significant contribution to supporting the successful applicant in undertaking their tertiary studies in music,” said Bruno Vieceli, Assistant Director, Religious Identity and Leading Learning at the scholarship presentation ceremony in April 2017.

Bruno described Reece as a worthy winner.

“Reece has been accepted into a Bachelor of Music, Popular Music and Creative Technologies degree and he wishes to focus on composition, instrumental tuition and teaching. He is a composer, sound engineer and drummer and has played across a broad spectrum of musical genres.”

In accepting the scholarship, Reece thanked his music teacher, Michelle Hahn, for her inspiration and guidance.
