Ash Wednesday in Our Schools

Parishes and schools across the Archdiocese of Adelaide and Port Pirie have marked the beginning of the holy season of Lent with Ash Wednesday liturgies. Among those taking part were students at Tenison Woods College in Mount Gambier who received the ashes during Ash Wednesday Mass. On Tuesday the younger students made pancakes as a symbol of using up rich foods prior to Lent.

Additionally Project Compassion was launched today in our schools and communities.

Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten Appeal which funds the continuing work of Caritas Australia in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and Australian Indigenous communities. This year, Project Compassion focuses on Food for Life. It throws a spotlight on global food issues and how Caritas Australia is empowering the world’s poorest people to establish sustainable food sources.  Project Compassion is an opportunity to share what we have with those who have less.
